Why Head-On Collisions Often Lead to Fatal Outcomes
Head-on crashes are among the most severe types of roadway accidents because of the combined speed of both vehicles at impact. When two vehicles collide front-to-front, the force of the crash is significantly increased.
These collisions often occur when a vehicle crosses the center line due to distraction, impairment, or loss of control. Even brief lane departures can lead to catastrophic results on two-lane roads.
Emergency response in such crashes often involves specialized rescue equipment, especially when occupants are trapped inside damaged vehicles. Road design and visibility conditions can also play a role in how these incidents unfold.
