Why Pedestrian Crashes on High-Speed Highways Are Often Fatal
When pedestrians are struck on interstates, the risk of severe injury or death is extremely high due to vehicle speeds and limited visibility. Drivers often have little time to react, especially in early morning hours when the lighting is low.
Highways are not designed for pedestrian travel, which makes any presence on the roadway especially dangerous. Even brief exposure to traffic lanes can result in tragic outcomes, particularly when large vehicles such as semi-trucks are involved.
