How Highway Pedestrian Crashes Are Typically Investigated
When a pedestrian is struck on a highway, investigators often begin by reviewing roadway conditions and traffic flow at the time of the incident. These areas are typically high-speed environments where stopping distances are limited.
Officials may also examine visibility, lighting, and where the pedestrian was located on the roadway. In many cases, video footage from nearby cameras can help establish a timeline of events.
Vehicle data and witness accounts may also be used to understand how the crash occurred. These combined details help determine what led to the collision and how similar incidents might be prevented in the future.
