Charlotte, NC (August 12, 2026) – One person died Monday afternoon following a deadly accident on I-485 near Exit 33 in the University Area.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. A sedan was found off the side of the interstate among trees, with a downed sign nearby.
MEDIC pronounced one person dead at the scene and took another person to a hospital with minor injuries. It was not immediately clear whether the sedan struck the sign.
The cause of the wreck had not been determined as of the initial report. The investigation remains underway, and our condolences go to the loved ones of the person who died.
