Common Injury Risks in Two-Vehicle Intersection Crashes
Two-vehicle crashes at intersections can cause serious injuries because vehicles may collide at an angle. A side impact can place heavy force near the driver or passenger area, depending on where the vehicles meet.
Sports utility vehicles and sedans can respond differently during a collision. Their size, height, and weight may affect how the impact moves each vehicle and how occupants are hurt.
Medical teams often check crash victims for head trauma, chest pain, broken bones, and internal injuries. Passengers may also be hurt even when they are not seated near the first point of impact. Seat belts, speed, and vehicle damage can all affect injury severity.
