Wintersburg, AZ (April 29, 2026) – A wrong-way crash late on Monday night on Interstate 10 in Wintersburg left three people hospitalized, including the at-fault driver.
Emergency units responded to the westbound lanes of I-10 near Wintersburg Road around 11:45 p.m. Authorities said a driver traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes swerved to avoid a semi-truck. The vehicle narrowly avoided a head-on crash with the truck but sideswiped another vehicle before crashing into the semi’s trailer and becoming wedged underneath it.
The wrong-way driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. Two other drivers involved in the crash were also hospitalized and are expected to recover.
Officials have not ruled out impairment as a factor in the crash. Charges, including DUI, are pending against the at-fault driver.
