What Causes Multi-Vehicle Crashes on Busy Highways?
Multi-vehicle crashes often occur on heavily traveled highways where traffic flow is fast and closely spaced. Sudden braking, lane changes, or unexpected obstacles can quickly trigger a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles.
When one driver is unable to stop in time, following vehicles may also collide, especially if safe following distances are not maintained. Distractions, speeding, and limited reaction time further increase the risk.
In high-traffic areas, even a minor incident can escalate into a larger crash due to the volume of vehicles. Staying alert, maintaining proper spacing, and adjusting speed to traffic conditions are key steps in reducing the likelihood of multi-vehicle collisions.
