Why Rear-End Motorcycle Crashes Can Be Especially Dangerous
Rear-end crashes involving motorcycles often lead to severe outcomes due to the limited protection riders have. When a motorcycle strikes the back of another vehicle, the rider may be thrown forward or lose control upon impact.
Visibility can be a factor in these incidents, especially if traffic slows suddenly or if a rider is unable to react in time. Larger vehicles, such as delivery trucks, may also have different stopping distances, which can affect how quickly situations develop.
Road conditions, speed, and following distance all influence how these crashes occur. Maintaining safe spacing and awareness of traffic flow can help reduce the risk of rear-end collisions involving motorcycles.
