Why Overpass and Highway Intersections Often See Crashes
Crashes on highway overpasses and major route intersections can occur due to merging traffic, lane changes, or sudden braking. These areas often have higher traffic speeds combined with multiple entry and exit points.
Even minor misjudgments in distance or speed can lead to collisions, especially when vehicles are transitioning between routes like state highways and local roads. Weather conditions, visibility, and driver attentiveness also play a role in crash risk.
After these incidents, investigators typically review vehicle positions, roadway design, and traffic flow patterns. This helps determine how the collision occurred and whether any environmental or driver-related factors contributed.
