Philadelphia, PA (May 3, 2026) – A police officer was injured after being struck by a U-Haul truck Saturday afternoon in North Philadelphia. The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at the intersection of North Broad Street and West Toronto Avenue.
The officer, who is part of the department’s Dirt Bike Unit, was riding with other officers in the area. They were attempting to stop a group of motorcyclists and ATV riders when the crash occurred. During the encounter, a small U-Haul truck reportedly drove through a green light and hit the officer.
The officer suffered a serious leg injury, including lacerations that required hospital care. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remained overnight for observation.
The driver of the U-Haul remained at the scene following the collision. It has not been confirmed whether any citations or charges will be issued in connection with the crash.
