Potomac, MD (May 3, 2026) – Three adults were injured on Sunday, May 3,  after a rollover crash in a shopping center parking lot, on Seven Locks Road and Tuckerman Lane, in Potomac. The incident occurred outside the Cabin John Shopping Center near Shake Shack.

Emergency units responded after reports that a vehicle had struck multiple parked cars. According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons that have not yet been determined.

The vehicle reportedly hit seven parked cars before overturning in the parking lot. The driver became trapped inside the overturned vehicle and required extrication by rescue crews. Three adults involved in the crash were injured and received medical attention at the scene before being transported for further care.

The extent of their injuries has not been fully released. Damage to multiple parked vehicles was reported in the area. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.

Why Parking Lot Rollover Crashes Can Still Cause Serious Injuries

Rollover crashes in parking lots may seem less severe than highway collisions, but they can still result in significant injuries. Sudden acceleration, sharp steering movements, or driver error can cause a vehicle to lose balance, especially in areas with tight lanes and parked cars.

When a vehicle strikes multiple parked cars before overturning, the force of impact can increase damage and injury risk. Occupants may be thrown against interior surfaces or trapped inside the vehicle, requiring emergency extrication, and even pedestrians could be nearby and be injured. Parking structures also contain fixed objects like curbs, light poles, and barriers that can worsen collision outcomes.

Investigators typically review vehicle movement, surveillance footage, and roadway layout to determine what led to the crash. Medical evaluations help assess injuries that may not be immediately visible after a rollover event.
