How Multi-Vehicle Crashes Lead to Varying Injury Levels
Crashes involving three or more vehicles can lead to a wide range of outcomes for those involved. The force of impact may differ between each vehicle, which can result in some occupants facing severe harm while others walk away without injuries. The position on the road and timing of the collision can affect how each person is impacted.
Passengers are sometimes more vulnerable, especially if the point of impact occurs on their side of the vehicle. Safety features like seat belts and airbags can help reduce harm, but they do not prevent all injuries in complex crashes.
Road conditions, speed, and driver reaction times can also influence how a multi-vehicle accident unfolds. Even a brief delay in braking or swerving can increase the number of vehicles involved and the severity of the outcome.
