Sunnyvale, CA (August 25, 2026) – Several vehicles were reportedly involved in a collision on Sunday afternoon, August 23, on southbound US 101 near Mathilda Avenue. The incident was reported at approximately 3:51 p.m.
A preliminary report stated that a white Tesla struck the center divider twice before hitting three other vehicles. A black Jeep Cherokee, a white sedan, and another unidentified vehicle were among those involved. The crash blocked all four southbound lanes at one point.
The black Jeep sustained major front-end damage, and the Tesla did as well. A gray Honda Accord had moderate rear-end damage and damage to the right-front tire. Tow truck crews were requested for several damaged vehicles. About 87 feet of guardrail on the right side of the freeway was also reported damaged.
The incident was classified as a traffic collision involving injuries, although the available report did not provide details about the injured parties. We wish all those injured a speedy recovery.
