ALHAMBRA, Los Angeles County, Calif., Nov. 4, 2026 — At least one person was hurt in a chain-reaction crash on Tuesday afternoon, November 3, on westbound Interstate 10 just west of Atlantic Boulevard in Alhambra, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash grew to involve four vehicles, including a white Scion, a brown Toyota, a black Honda Accord and a white Honda sport model. Earlier radio traffic described a separate but related report of a white Toyota Camry, a Toyota SUV and a black Honda Civic involved in the pileup, with the Camry and SUV sustaining major front and rear damage. At least one of the crashes was logged as a minor-injury collision. Alhambra Fire Department crews responded to the scene.
The collision blocked multiple lanes on both the westbound mainline and the connector lanes near Atlantic Boulevard, prompting a shutdown of the number one and two lanes in both the hot lanes and the mainline. The CHP issued a SigAlert for the area expected to last about an hour as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
Tow trucks were requested to remove at least three disabled vehicles from the roadway. No cause has been released, and the extent of the reported injury has not been detailed. The CHP continues to investigate.
We hope those who were hurt recover fully and quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are secondary crashes common after an initial wreck like this one?
Yes. When lanes stay blocked on a freeway, approaching traffic usually has little time to react, which can lead to additional collisions before the scene is cleared.
What makes a multi-vehicle crash harder to investigate than a two-car crash?
Investigators have to sort out the order in which vehicles struck each other and how much each impact contributed to the damage, which usually takes longer than a single-impact crash.
What typically causes chain-reaction pileups on freeways?
They usually start with one vehicle stopping or slowing suddenly, usually during heavy traffic, and following vehicles are unable to stop in time, triggering a series of impacts.
