Frequently Asked Questions
What are common causes of freeway crashes like this one?
Rear-end and lane-change collisions on busy freeway interchanges are usually tied to following too closely, sudden braking, or a driver's failure to notice slowing traffic ahead in time.
How does speed affect the outcome of a crash?
Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which can turn a minor collision into one with serious injuries.
What injuries are most common in freeway collisions?
Whiplash, head and chest injuries from airbag deployment, and cuts from broken glass are common, even in crashes that don't involve major vehicle damage.
What should drivers do if they come upon a crash blocking a lane?
Slow down early, merge safely when possible, and watch for emergency crews or service patrol vehicles working at the scene.
