What Happens in Multi-Vehicle Crashes Involving Large Trucks on Highways
Crashes involving semi-trucks and multiple vehicles often result in complex impact patterns due to differences in size and speed. Larger vehicles require more distance to slow down, which can increase the severity of collisions when traffic is congested or slowed.
In multi-vehicle incidents, one initial impact can quickly involve additional cars, especially on high-speed highways. This can lead to a chain-reaction effect in which vehicles are struck in quick succession.
Emergency response teams typically prioritize medical evaluation at the scene, particularly when children or critically injured individuals are involved. Highway lanes may be restricted to allow safe access for responders and the removal of damaged vehicles.
