The California Highway Patrol said the motorcycle and the SUV collided on the left shoulder of westbound I-10 near the Frazier Street off-ramp. A preliminary account logged by the agency indicated a separate SUV had cut off the motorcyclist as he merged from a toll lane into the left lane, prompting the rider to end up in the path of the white Ford Explorer. That earlier vehicle was not reported to have remained at the scene.
The rider went down but was reportedly back on his feet and moving around shortly afterward. A passerby in a gray Ford Explorer stopped to help the motorcyclist up, and the call was then upgraded to request paramedics. Los Angeles County Fire Department units responded to provide medical attention.
