BARNWELL, Barnwell County, S.C., Sept. 24, 2026 — A bicyclist died Tuesday morning, September 22, after colliding with a pickup truck on Red Oak Road in Barnwell County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported the crash happened near Kimberwick Trail.
The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m., according to Lance Cpl. Brittany Glover. A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on Red Oak Road when a bicyclist riding on the shoulder reportedly moved into the roadway and was struck, troopers said.
The bicyclist was taken to an area hospital, where they later died from their injuries, Glover said. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt, according to the report.
The Barnwell County Coroner's Office has not yet released the identity of the person killed. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
