BEECH GROVE, Jasper County, Texas, Oct. 26, 2026 — Two drivers were flown to Houston area hospitals after a crash early Sunday morning, October 25, on US Highway 190 at the Dam B bridge in Beech Grove, Texas. The crash tore out about 100 feet of guardrail, according to the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
Beech Grove VFD Chief Jamie Gunter said crews responded at about 4:30 a.m. to a two-vehicle wreck on US 190 at Dam B. Arriving crews found a Kia facing west in the roadway near the traffic signal with heavy rear-end damage. A Chevrolet truck involved in the crash came to rest roughly 200 yards west, with extensive front and side damage, after reportedly striking the Kia and continuing on to hit the guardrail on the south side of the road. The truck stopped near the east approach to the Neches River bridge.
Both drivers were checked out and treated at the scene by Beech Grove VFD medical personnel, and Allegiance Mobile Health – Jasper EMS later continued treatment. Both were then flown to hospitals in the Houston area, one aboard Allegiance Air 1 out of Kirbyville and the other aboard Allegiance Air 3 out of Livingston.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office closed US 190 in both directions and helped set up a landing zone for one of the helicopters, while the Dam B Volunteer Fire Department assisted with traffic control and the second landing zone.
The highway was closed for about two hours before reopening.
The Texas Department of Public Safety's Southeast Texas Region is investigating the crash. We hope everyone who was hurt makes a swift and full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed make a crash worse? Yes. Higher speed means more distance needed to stop and more force at the moment of impact, which raises the chance of serious injury for everyone involved.
Why is distracted driving considered so risky? Even a few seconds looking away from the road means traveling a long distance blind, especially at highway speed, leaving little time to react to a stopped or slowing vehicle ahead.
How do weather or road conditions factor into crashes like this? Darkness, wet pavement, fog or poor lighting can all cut down visibility and reaction time, making rear-end and multi-vehicle crashes more likely on stretches like bridges and approaches.
What should someone do right after a car accident? Move to safety if possible, call 911, and get checked by medical personnel even if injuries aren't obvious right away. Exchange information with other drivers and wait for law enforcement to document the scene.
What to Do After a Car Crash in Beech Grove, TX
If you're involved in a crash in Beech Grove, stay as calm as you can and check yourself and any passengers for injuries before doing anything else. Call 911 right away, even on a rural highway, since responders may need time to reach the scene and set up safety measures like lane closures. Let EMS evaluate you on site, because injuries such as whiplash or internal bruising don't always show symptoms right away. Once you're safe, document the scene if you're able, and follow up with your own doctor in the days afterward to make sure nothing was missed. Give yourself time to recover, and lean on family or friends for support while you do.
