Bensalem Twp, PA (March 3, 2026) – One man lost his life, and four others were hurt in a three-vehicle crash near the I-95 interchange early Tuesday, March 3.
The collision happened around midnight on Street Road in Bensalem Township. According to police, a silver 2013 Chevrolet Sonic was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light and struck a 2017 Dodge Journey. The impact sent the Sonic airborne over the center median, where it then hit a 2015 Honda Accord before catching fire.
Emergency units arrived to find the Chevrolet fully engulfed in flames. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Timur Khabelov, had been ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers inside the burning car, 43-year-old Farruh Homidov and 39-year-old Askar Narziev, were rescued and taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in critical condition. The drivers of the Dodge Journey and Honda Accord were also taken to area hospitals with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Their names have not been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
How Speed and Red-Light Violations Can Lead to Severe Multi-Car Crashes
Crashes that involve high speeds and red-light violations often result in serious damage and injuries. When a driver enters an intersection against a signal, cross traffic may have little or no time to react. At higher speeds, the force of impact increases and can cause vehicles to spin, roll, or even become airborne.
Vehicles that strike medians or other cars may also rupture fuel systems, which can lead to fires. In multi-car accidents, people in several vehicles can be affected within seconds. Intersections near major highways tend to see heavier traffic, especially overnight, which can increase the risk of chain-reaction collisions when a driver fails to follow traffic signals.
