What Is Reviewed After a Vehicle vs. Bicycle Crash?
Crashes involving vehicles and bicycles can be affected by factors such as traffic flow, visibility, roadway conditions, and the actions of drivers and cyclists. Investigators may examine the location of the impact, vehicle damage, bicycle condition, and statements from people who witnessed the incident.
Because cyclists have limited protection compared with people inside vehicles, even lower-speed crashes can result in serious injuries. Information collected from the scene, including roadway evidence and photographs, can help explain the events leading up to the collision and document the circumstances surrounding the crash.
