Greene County, TN (August 6, 2026) – A box truck driver was seriously hurt after a crash involving a semi-truck on Wednesday morning, August 5, on Interstate 81 in Greene County.
The collision was reported at approximately 7:41 a.m. near mile marker 43. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, an unoccupied semi-truck had been stopped because of a mechanical problem when its trailer was struck by an approaching box truck.
The 53-year-old driver of the box truck was taken to a hospital with suspected serious injuries. No one was inside the parked semi-truck at the time of the crash. Both lanes of Interstate 81 were later reopened after crews cleared the roadway. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
