Grandville, MI (June 26, 2026) – A boy riding a bike was hospitalized on Thursday afternoon, June 25, after he was struck by a car on Wilson Avenue SW in Grandville. The accident happened around 3:56 p.m. in the 3400 block of Wilson Avenue SW near Wedgwood Park.
Grandville police said the boy was in a crosswalk when the collision happened. He was significantly injured and taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital for additional care. The police said the child is expected to survive. His name and age were not released in the first report. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said alcohol was not believed to be a factor, and the driver was not hurt.
A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle failed to stop for a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The case will be forwarded to the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office for review of possible charges.
