Branford, CT (January 23, 2026) – A five-vehicle pileup on I-95 northbound between exits 55 and 56 resulted in three individuals being transported to a local hospital Wednesday morning, according to emergency responders.
The crash occurred on January 21 and involved several passenger vehicles, including a van that came to rest at a steep angle. Branford Fire Department crews were called to assist the van’s driver, who required help exiting the vehicle due to the unstable position. Firefighters stabilized the van to prevent a potential rollover before safely extricating the individual.
Paramedics evaluated multiple people at the scene and confirmed that three were transported for further medical assessment. The conditions of those injured have not been publicly released, but all were expected to receive additional care at an area hospital.
Traffic along I-95 was heavily affected during the morning commute as crews worked to manage the scene and remove the damaged vehicles. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the pileup.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full and timely recovery.
