Brevard County, FL (January 19, 2026) – A 19-year-old motorcyclist from Dunnellon was killed in a single-vehicle accident early on Sunday morning in central Brevard County, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred just before 4:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 1 near Puma Valley Way.
Authorities say the teen was riding a Suzuki RX1000 motorcycle southbound in the inside lane when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The motorcycle veered off the highway to the right and collided with a utility pole. Emergency responders rushed the rider to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the young man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Preliminary findings suggest speed may have been a factor, as the rider was reportedly traveling above the posted limit.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no additional injuries were reported. FHP is continuing its investigation to determine all contributing factors.
