Bushland, TX (January 22, 2026) – A devastating two-vehicle collision on Wednesday evening resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to two others after a fiery crash on RM 2381, just north of Bushland.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene around 7:06 p.m. after reports of a serious crash involving a 2001 Honda Accord and a 2017 Ford Expedition. Preliminary findings indicate that the Honda, driven by 27-year-old Travis Reed of Fort Worth, was traveling southbound on RM 2381 when it veered into the northbound lane for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle collided head-on with the Ford Expedition.
The impact caused the Ford to catch fire and become fully engulfed in flames. Authorities say 40-year-old Dusty Dickerson of Channing, who was driving the Ford, and a 12-year-old girl passenger managed to escape the vehicle before it was entirely overtaken by the fire.
Travis Reed was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries he sustained in the crash. Dickerson sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The young passenger was also taken to the hospital, reportedly with minor injuries.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash. The roadway remained closed for a time as crews cleared the scene and gathered evidence.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Travis Reed and offer our support and well wishes to those injured in this tragic incident.
