Butler Co, MO (January 20, 2026) – A collision involving a passenger car and a commercial truck north of Poplar Bluff left an 18-year-old male injured Monday morning, according to officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 9:15 a.m. along County Rd 525, approximately three miles north of Poplar Bluff. Investigators stated that a southbound 2020 Ford Mustang crossed over the center line and struck a northbound 2005 Freightliner Cascadia. The impact caused significant damage to the Mustang, which had to be towed from the scene by Barkers. The Freightliner sustained moderate damage but was operable and driven away.
The young driver of the Mustang, a Williamstown resident, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. He was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and was transported by private vehicle to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for evaluation and care. The driver of the Freightliner, a 66-year-old man also from Williamstown, was unharmed.
Trooper R.W. Brown responded to the scene, documenting the collision and its likely cause—vehicle #1 veering into the opposing lane. No charges have been announced as of this time, and the investigation remains active.
