Campti, LA (January 15, 2026) – A fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Louisiana Highway 9 in Campti on January 12, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Kevin W. Gooden. The collision, which took place in the morning hours, involved Gooden being struck by a vehicle while crossing the highway.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Gooden was transported to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. Despite efforts from medical personnel, he tragically passed away from his injuries several days later on January 13.
Natchitoches Parish Coroner Steven Clanton confirmed Gooden’s death, and local law enforcement, including the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police, have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the crash or the identity of the driver involved. The area around Louisiana Highway 9 was temporarily impacted while investigators worked to gather evidence and secure the scene.
