Scott Co., KY (July 13, 2026) – Two people died on Saturday, July 11, after a car struck the rear of a fire engine on southbound Interstate 75. The collision happened around 2:19 p.m. near mile marker 141.
The fire engine was stopped for a separate single-vehicle crash when the car hit it from behind. The driver and front-seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two rear-seat passengers were taken to UK HealthCare and listed in stable condition. Three firefighters aboard the truck were also taken to local hospitals as a precaution.
Witnesses reported rain and slick pavement, but the cause of the accident had not been determined. Southbound traffic was diverted from Exit 144 to U.S. 25 before returning to the interstate at Exit 126. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
