CARSON, Los Angeles County, Calif., Nov. 3, 2026 — A driver was reportedly injured on Monday morning, November 2, after a big rig collided with a sedan on southbound Interstate 405 at the Interstate 110 interchange and then left the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported shortly after 9:14 a.m. near the I-405 and I-110 connector in Carson, CHP dispatch logs show. A silver sedan ended up facing the wrong way and blocking a lane, and the wreck at one point involved multiple vehicles, including a big rig, before traffic investigators sorted out the sequence of events.
A witness reportedly told the CHP that the big rig involved was a white dump truck marked for a company identified as TNT Trucking, and said she believed she saw it stopped on the right shoulder near the Carson scales a few minutes after the crash. The CHP said the truck's driver left without stopping, a possible violation of the state's hit-and-run law, and that the truck's license plate was not known. An ambulance was requested for a possible injury to the sedan's occupant, and occupants were seen out of the vehicle at the scene.
The CHP's log also references a separate two-vehicle crash reported at the Carson scales around 9:55 a.m. that caused no injuries, which authorities cleared within the hour. Lanes affected by the original crash were blocked for a time before being reported clear shortly before 10 a.m., and the CHP closed out its incident by about 10:25 a.m.
The hit-and-run remains under investigation. We hope those who were hurt recover fully.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does speed affect the severity of a crash like this?
Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which usually means more serious injuries and more vehicle damage, especially in multi-vehicle crashes on freeways.
Why is distracted driving a particular risk in heavy freeway traffic?
Slow-downs and stop-and-go conditions, like those common on the 405/110 interchange, require constant attention. A driver who looks away even briefly can fail to notice a stopped vehicle in time to stop safely.
What should I do if I witness a hit-and-run?
Try to safely note the vehicle's color, make, and license plate, and report what you saw to the CHP or local police as soon as possible. Witness accounts can be key to identifying a driver who left the scene.
