CASTRO VALLEY, Alameda County, Calif., Nov. 1, 2026 — A driver was hurt on Saturday afternoon, October 31, in a two-car crash at John Drive and Castro Valley Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash involved a white Toyota Corolla and a gray Toyota Camry. It happened on westbound John Drive just west of Castro Valley Boulevard, near the 20630 block, and blocked part of John Drive immediately afterward.
The CHP initially logged the call as a collision with unknown injuries before upgrading it to a crash with an ambulance en route, indicating at least one person needed medical attention. A later update noted the Camry had no apparent injuries and was drivable, suggesting the injury was linked to the Corolla. The extent of that injury has not been released.
No cause has been confirmed. It remains under investigation by the CHP, and no information on citations or possible factors such as speed has been made public.
We wish those injured a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed make a crash worse? Yes. Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force involved in a collision, which tends to raise the risk of serious injury.
Why is distracted driving dangerous? Taking attention off the road, even briefly, slows a driver's reaction time and raises the chance of missing a stopped car or a light change.
How do road or weather conditions factor into crashes? Wet pavement, poor visibility, or glare can reduce traction and make it harder to stop in time, raising the odds of a collision at intersections like this one.
What should I do after a car accident? Check for injuries, call 911 if needed, move to a safe spot if possible, and make sure to exchange information with the other driver while waiting for law enforcement.
