Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of injuries typically result from a rollover crash?
Rollover crashes commonly cause head, neck, and spinal injuries, along with broken bones, as occupants are thrown against the roof, windows, or each other during the roll.
What typically makes a vehicle roll over?
Rollovers usually happen when a vehicle loses control, strikes an object, drops off the road edge, or takes a turn too fast, causing it to tip rather than slide.
Why are rollover crashes considered especially serious?
A vehicle can roll multiple times, and unbelted occupants or those near windows face a higher chance of being ejected or struck by the vehicle's structure as it turns over.
Are certain vehicles more likely to roll over than others?
Taller vehicles with a higher center of gravity, such as buses, vans, and some trucks and SUVs, are generally more prone to rolling over than low-profile passenger cars.
