Centralia, IL (January 13, 2026) – A Sunday afternoon collision on the south side of Centralia resulted in injuries to three people, including two teenagers, following a two-vehicle crash at the US 51 turnaround just north of Walnut Hill Rd.
The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. when a van driven by 25-year-old Kaylee Matlock of Richview attempted to turn into the US 51 turnaround from the right northbound lane. According to Centralia Police, Matlock’s vehicle collided with the front of another northbound van traveling in the left lane, operated by 27-year-old Faith Luebbers of Carlyle.
Emergency medical services responded promptly to the scene. While Matlock declined hospital treatment, she was cited for improper lane usage. Luebbers and two female juvenile passengers, ages 15 and 16, sustained injuries in the crash and were transported by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia for further care.
The van driven by Luebbers was identified as belonging to the Hoyleton Children’s Home, indicating the involvement of an organization that works with youth. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash to determine if any additional factors played a role.
We extend our heartfelt wishes to the injured teens and Ms. Luebbers for a full and speedy recovery following this collision.
