CHATSWORTH, Los Angeles County, Calif., Sept. 20, 2026 — One person was critically injured early on Saturday morning, September 19, in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Nordhoff Street in Chatsworth.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the crash occurred around 1 a.m. and involved two vehicles, a sedan and an SUV. Officers have not released details on how the collision happened.
One person was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Further information on that person's condition has not been made available. The second driver did not appear to be injured and was given a field sobriety test at the scene, according to video from the crash site.
The intersection remained closed as of 4:30 a.m. while officers investigated. Southbound and northbound Metro buses were rerouted away from Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Gresham Street during the closure, LAPD said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The collision comes days after two separate fatal incidents in Chatsworth on Tuesday, when an SUV driver collided with a Metro bus, and a news helicopter covering the aftermath crashed nearby. Those two incidents killed five people combined and injured eight others.
