Chesapeake, VA (January 23, 2026) – A vehicle accident on Thursday morning at the intersection of South Military Hwy and Schaefer Ave resulted in a temporary entrapment, drawing a large-scale response from emergency personnel in Chesapeake.
The crash occurred around 11:16 AM on January 22 and initially involved reports of a trapped driver. Responding units, including Battalion 3, Engine 10, Engine 9, Medic 10, Medic 11, EMS 3, Rescue 1, and Ladder 2, arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway and in a ditch.
Fortunately, emergency crews were able to free the driver without the need for extensive extrication tools. The individual was conscious and assessed at the scene for injuries. No other serious injuries were reported, though medical personnel remained on site to ensure all parties were stable and received appropriate care.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Officials have not yet confirmed whether roadway conditions or driver factors contributed to the crash.
