Frequently Asked Questions
How do weather and road conditions affect crash risk?
Wet pavement, poor visibility and low light can all reduce a driver's ability to react in time, especially at intersections where multiple vehicles are moving through at once.
What should someone do right after a car accident?
Check for injuries, call 911, try to move to a safe spot if possible, and exchange information with other drivers. Avoid discussing fault until police arrive and take a report.
Where do most traffic crashes happen?
A large share of crashes occur at intersections, usually tied to red-light violations, turning movements or one driver failing to yield.
How can drivers lower the chance of a crash like this one?
Coming to a full stop at red lights, scanning cross traffic before entering an intersection, and slowing down at night when visibility drops can all help avoid these collisions.
