Cobb Co., GA (April 29, 2026) – Two adults were seriously injured Sunday night, April 26, after a drifting car hit spectators during a car meet in Cobb County.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in a parking lot at 7800 The Bluffs. Authorities said an organized car meet was taking place, with a marked area set up inside barricades for drifting.
A gray 2009 Pontiac sedan was inside that area when the driver lost control. The car hit barricades on the west side of the parking lot before striking several spectators.
An adult woman and an adult man were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries. Several other people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, and additional details may become available as authorities continue their review. Our thoughts remain with those affected as they continue to receive care and recover from their injuries.
Injuries Reported During Car Meet Crashes
Car meet crashes can become dangerous when vehicles perform high-speed or controlled-slide movements near people. Even with barricades in place, a driver who loses control may leave little time for spectators to move away.
Drifting places added stress on tires, steering, and braking. A vehicle can slide farther than expected, especially in a parking lot where space is limited. The risk increases when people stand near the edge of the driving area.
Spectator injuries may range from cuts and bruises to serious trauma. Impacts from a moving vehicle can affect the head, chest, legs, or back. Medical care is often needed quickly when multiple people are hurt at the same scene.
