COLTON, San Bernardino County, Calif., Nov. 5, 2026 — A pickup truck rolled onto its side on Wednesday morning, November 4, in a multi-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 215 at Interstate 10, according to the California Highway Patrol. At least two vehicles sustained major damage, and crews reportedly worked to extricate occupants trapped inside, per a CHP notification.
The crash was reported shortly before 7:45 a.m. near the interchange where northbound 215 meets eastbound 10. The CHP log describes a black Ford pickup overturned on its side along with a red Honda Civic, a white Tesla, a white Toyota and a black Kia, all blocking lanes. A gray Volkswagen Atlas was also struck, with its driver telling dispatchers the truck had hit her vehicle. Several passing motorists stopped to help before emergency crews arrived.
The collision blocked the third, fourth and fifth lanes, and the CHP issued a SigAlert to manage the backup. A caller reported seeing smoke coming from the truck and said emergency vehicles appeared to be responding with lights and sirens. One involved vehicle, a red Honda Fit, was later found to have a blown rear tire and was left on the right shoulder pending tow service. A tow truck was requested at the scene, and by midmorning a flag tow was en route with an estimated one-hour arrival.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Our thoughts are with those who were injured, and we wish them a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a "tripped" rollover?
A tripped rollover happens when a vehicle's tires catch on a curb, soft shoulder, or another object, causing it to flip rather than slide or spin. This differs from "untripped" rollovers, which can occur on flat pavement during sharp steering maneuvers, usually involving taller vehicles like trucks and SUVs.
How can drivers reduce rollover risk?
Keeping tires properly inflated, avoiding sudden lane changes, and slowing down before curves or exits can help a vehicle stay stable, particularly for pickups and SUVs with a higher center of gravity.
What injuries are common in rollover crashes?
Rollovers frequently cause head, neck and spinal injuries, especially when occupants are not wearing seat belts and are thrown against the roof or ejected from the vehicle.
