CONROE, Montgomery County, Texas, Oct. 15, 2026 — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of FM 3083 and FM 1485 sent one group of occupants to the hospital Thursday, October 15, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. The crash has since been cleared from the roadway.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said a Dodge Charger was traveling northbound on FM 3083 in the left-turn lane, preparing to turn onto Old Houston Road, when a 2004 Mazda Tribute pulled out of a nearby Valero parking lot and struck the Charger's side. The impact caused what's known as a T-bone collision, with the Mazda hitting the Charger broadside.

The occupants of the Charger were taken to a hospital in stable condition. The occupants of the Mazda were not injured, according to the report.

Get Er Done Towing removed the Charger from the scene, while Milstead towing handled the Mazda.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash. We hope everyone who was hurt makes a full recovery.

A Common Misconception About T-Bone Crashes

Many drivers assume that side-impact crashes are mainly a problem at high-speed highway intersections, not in low-speed settings like parking lot exits or driveways. In practice, these collisions happen just as often at modest speeds, where a vehicle entering a road without a clear view of oncoming traffic can still cause serious injury because the side of a car offers far less protection than the front or rear.

Another assumption is that if nobody was speeding, the crash must have been minor. Speed is only one factor. The angle of impact matters enormously in a T-bone collision, since there's little structure between an occupant and the point of impact compared to a front-end crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 23,959 passenger-vehicle occupants were killed in motor-vehicle traffic crashes in 2023. That figure spans all crash types and is a reminder that outcomes in any single collision, including side-impact crashes at intersections, depend on far more than how fast anyone was going.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most common causes of car accidents?

Failing to yield the right of way, distracted driving, and misjudging gaps in traffic are frequent factors, especially at intersections where one vehicle crosses or enters another's path.

How does speed affect crash severity?

Higher speeds increase both the force of impact and the distance needed to stop or avoid a collision, but even lower-speed crashes can cause significant injury depending on where and how a vehicle is struck.

Why is distracted driving so dangerous?

Taking eyes or attention off the road for even a few seconds can prevent a driver from seeing a vehicle entering their path in time to brake or steer away.

How do weather and road conditions contribute to crashes?

Wet pavement, glare, and reduced visibility can all affect a driver's ability to judge gaps in traffic or react to a vehicle pulling into the roadway.

Call local authorities to have the crash documented, and exchange information with the other driver. Take photos of the vehicles, the intersection, and any relevant signage or signals if you're able to safely do so. Keep a copy of the police report for your own records, and follow up with a doctor if any pain or stiffness develops in the days after the crash.
