Mays Landing, NJ (August 24, 2026) – A longtime Egg Harbor Township couple died Saturday morning, August 22, after their sedan was struck head-on by a stolen SUV in Hamilton Township. The crash happened on Route 50 near 3rd Avenue in the Mays Landing section.
Robert Barr Jr., 54, and Alice Stilwell, 67, were inside a Hyundai sedan when it was hit by a stolen 2024 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. The sedan came to rest near the gas pumps at a Delta station. Police had been alerted to the Mercedes after officers in Longport attempted to stop it earlier that morning.
Court documents indicate the SUV had been reported stolen, and an alert was issued to law enforcement agencies across Atlantic County. Hamilton police later spotted the Mercedes near Forsythia Ct before the fatal crash. An 18-year-old Atlantic City man and three juveniles face multiple conspiracy and theft-related charges connected to the stolen vehicle.
