Crawford Co, MO (January 29, 2026) – A two-truck collision along the westbound lanes of I-44 near mile marker 216 resulted in injuries and major vehicle damage on Wednesday evening, according to authorities from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at approximately 6:45 p.m. and involved a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia and a 2013 Mack CXU613, both traveling westbound. Investigators say the Freightliner, driven by a 39-year-old man from Orlando, FL, struck the rear of the Mack truck under unknown conditions. The impact forced the Freightliner off the left side of the highway, where it collided with a cable barrier before coming to rest.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. The Freightliner sustained total damage and was secured roadside, while the Mack suffered extensive damage and was towed by Chuck’s Towing. The 39-year-old Freightliner driver was transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan with moderate injuries. The driver of the Mack, a 27-year-old man from Atlanta, GA, was reportedly uninjured.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by additional units who worked to manage traffic and assess the situation. The westbound lanes experienced delays as the investigation and cleanup continued into the evening.
We extend our best wishes to the injured driver and hope for a smooth and steady recovery.
