Culpeper, VA (January 7, 2026) – A 36-year-old man was hospitalized after being discovered injured in a barn near Sunset Ln early Monday morning, following a single-vehicle crash that had occurred the previous night.
The incident was first reported around 3:40 a.m. on January 5, when paramedics were dispatched to a rural area near Sunset Ln in Culpeper. According to dispatch audio, the man had veered off the road and crashed into a ditch sometime the night before. After the crash, he reportedly crawled away from the vehicle and spent the night outdoors before being found in a nearby barn.
Emergency responders found the man alert but suffering from multiple injuries. He had a visible ankle deformity, numerous scrapes and lacerations along both arms, facial injuries including a possible lost tooth, and was experiencing chest pain. Despite the extent of his injuries, medics confirmed he was breathing normally and conscious when transported to the hospital for further care.
Paramedics established IV access and administered pain medication, reporting his discomfort at a level of ten out of ten. The man also appeared to have been affected by exposure to cold temperatures overnight, which may have contributed to reduced sensation in his injured foot.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what led to the crash or whether the man attempted to call for help following the incident. The vehicle’s location and condition have not been detailed publicly.
We extend our sincere wishes for the man’s full and speedy recovery following this harrowing event.
