What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed in Fatal Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crashes?
Fatal crashes involving bicycles require a detailed investigation to determine how the collision occurred and the actions of everyone involved. Investigators typically examine vehicle movements, roadway positioning, visibility conditions, and physical evidence from the scene.
When a driver leaves the scene, authorities may also review surveillance footage, vehicle damage, witness statements, and electronic evidence to establish a timeline of events. In cases where impairment is suspected, toxicology results and field observations can become part of the investigation. Bicycle crashes may also involve analysis of lane usage, traffic patterns, and roadway design. These elements help investigators understand the circumstances surrounding the collision and support any related criminal proceedings.
