What Can Happen in a Side-Impact Crash?
Side-impact crashes can cause serious injuries because the struck vehicle has less space between the occupants and the point of impact. The severity of injuries can depend on the location of the impact, vehicle size, speed, and whether safety systems such as airbags and seat belts were in use.
Crash reviews may examine vehicle damage, roadway markings, traffic signals, and debris patterns. Investigators may also consider witness accounts and available video footage. These details can help establish vehicle movements and determine how the collision developed. Medical evaluations may provide additional information about the injuries suffered by people involved.
