East Lake-Orient Park, FL (September 5, 2026) – A small plane crash in a wooded area of Hillsborough County claimed the lives of two people on Thursday morning, September 3, after the aircraft went down and caught fire around 8:16 a.m. near U.S. 301 and Maislin Drive.
The Federal Aviation Administration identified the aircraft as a Lancair Evolution. Multiple 911 calls were received reporting that a plane had gone down in the area. First responders arrived to find the aircraft fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished in less than 10 minutes.
The only two people aboard the plane died in the crash. They were identified as 59-year-old pilot David Siambanes and 53-year-old passenger Dawn Stone. The aircraft suffered extensive damage in the crash.
