Latimer, MS (May 20, 2026) – A Jackson County deputy was injured Tuesday, May 19, after a motorcycle and three other vehicles were involved in a wreck in Latimer.
The accident happened at the intersection of Old Biloxi Road and Stanley Road. Officials said the deputy was riding a motorcycle when the vehicles collided.
After the crash, the deputy was flown to USA Health University Hospital in Mobile.
The cause of the collision remains under review as state investigators continue gathering details. We hope the deputy receives the care needed for a full recovery.
Why Motorcycle Crashes Can Require Hospital Airlifts
Motorcycle crashes can lead to serious harm because riders have less protection than people inside larger vehicles. A rider may be thrown from the motorcycle or hit the road with heavy force. Even when helmets and riding gear are used, injuries can affect the head, spine, chest, arms, or legs.
Air medical transport may be used when a patient needs faster access to a trauma center. This can happen when the nearest hospital is farther away or when the injury may require specialized care. Multi-vehicle crashes can also take more time to review because investigators may need to study vehicle paths, lane position, traffic controls, and witness statements. Medical records can later help explain the severity of the harm and the treatment needed after the roadway emergency.
