DERRY, Rockingham County, N.H., Oct. 23, 2026 — A man died on Thursday morning, October 22, after a single-vehicle crash on I-93 North near mile marker 6.6.
Derry Fire's communication center first received a 9-1-1 call around 5:56 a.m. reporting a passenger vehicle fire on I-93 North, the department said. That call was quickly updated to a motor vehicle collision with an unconscious occupant.
Windham police arrived first and found one vehicle in the center lane with heavy damage, with one occupant still inside and unconscious. New Hampshire State Police also responded and helped close lanes so crews could reach the scene. A Windham fire lieutenant found the driver unconscious and in traumatic arrest; Windham and Salem personnel worked together on patient care before the Windham fire chief arrived and took command.
The man was taken to Parkland Medical Center in Derry, where he was later pronounced dead, the fire department reported. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation shut down the highway's middle and high-speed lanes while crews operated and state police investigated. No cause has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
We offer our deepest sympathy to the family of the victim.

What to Do After a Car Accident in Derry, NH
If you're involved in or witness a serious crash on a highway in Derry, call 911 right away and, if possible, move to a safe location away from traffic. Stay on the line with dispatchers and follow their instructions, especially if someone is unconscious or trapped. Even if injuries seem minor at first, seek a medical evaluation promptly, since some injuries from high-speed collisions aren't obvious right away.
