Elizabeth City, NC (September 13, 2026) – A driver died after a two-vehicle crash involving a Ford Explorer and a tractor-trailer on Halstead Boulevard Extension at Mt. Everest Drive.

Elizabeth City Police officers responded to the area around 9:15 a.m. on Friday, September 11, following reports of a motor vehicle crash.

According to police, an 18-wheeler hauling equipment had stopped before the intersection to unload. The tractor and trailer had been detached when the 2017 Ford Explorer struck the rear of the trailer.

The Explorer driver suffered serious injuries in the crash. Pasquotank County EMS pronounced the driver dead at 9:23 a.m.
