Monroe County, NY (August 18, 2026) – One driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries on Monday evening, August 17, following a two-vehicle collision in Henrietta. Deputies responded around 6 p.m. to the area of West Henrietta and Flatt roads, a busy commercial corridor south of Rochester lined with retail stores and restaurants.

West Henrietta Road was temporarily blocked while deputies investigated, but has since reopened to traffic in both directions. Deputies said no criminal activity was involved.

No further details about the cause of the wreck were released.

We hope for a full recovery for the injured driver.

Why Are Commercial Roads Prone to Crashes?

Commercial corridors with heavy retail traffic, like West Henrietta Road, see a steady mix of local shoppers, delivery vehicles, and drivers passing through to reach nearby stores or restaurants. Frequent driveway entrances and exits can add extra points where two vehicles might cross paths unexpectedly.

Evening hours can bring a noticeable uptick in traffic as commuters head home and shoppers run errands after work, increasing the number of vehicles moving through a busy stretch of road at once. This higher volume can make it more likely that a minor miscalculation, such as misjudging a gap in traffic, will lead to a collision.

When a road is temporarily blocked for an investigation, it typically reflects standard procedure rather than the severity of any particular incident, since officers need space to safely document the scene and clear both vehicles. Roads like this one are usually reopened within a few hours once that work is complete.
