Clay County, IN (August 20, 2026) – A driver was hurt on Tuesday morning in an accident involving a car and a semi on I-70 near the Clay/Vigo County line. The accident occurred at about mile marker 19.
According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames, the car attempted to illegally pass the semi on the right side of the highway. The two vehicles then collided and came to rest in the median of I-70.
The driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No identity was released in the initial report. The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation as investigators gather additional information.
